Barbara Roberts has been in the community as a teacher and performer since 1986. Growing up in Pasadena, California, she earned her Bachelor and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at Stanford, and her Masters Degree at the University of Michigan. She spent a year in Munich on a music scholarship, and taught in Boston for four years before moving to Vancouver, Washington. After taking about twelve years away from performing to be with her children, she began giving solo recitals again starting in 1999. She has been a concerto soloist twice with the Vancouver Symphony and regularly plays recitals and benefit concerts in the area. She has performed on the 10 Grands at the Schnitz for the last five years, and will be performing with them again next April. An active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of both Oregon and Washington, she maintains a private teaching studio, and is frequently asked to be an adjudicator and accompanist.
