Jason SchoolerJason Schooler began playing the doublebass at age 10, in the public school music program in Woodbridge, VA. He received his Bachelor's degree in Music Performance and Music Education at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in 1997. Jason attended the Aspen Music Festival from 1993 to 1996 and was an Aspen Music Festival Fellowship recipient from 1997 to 1999. Jason has played in the bass sections of the West Virginia Symphony, the Dayton Philharmonic, the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and he has been a member of the bass section of the Oregon Symphony Orchestra since 1999. Jason has also been an adjunct faculty member in the music department at the University of Portland since the fall of 2006. Jason plays an Abraham Prescott double bass with a Dearborn and Sons label, made c. 1850. Jason and his wife, Cymbrie, have four children: Noah, Anya, Hope and Sarah.
